• Breathe new life into the area encouraging investment, new community and leisure facilities and new employment opportunities.

• Recognise the historical importance of the Silverdale Colliery at the heart of the community and bring the site back into safe, active use for the benefit of the local community.

• Create safe, accessible, pedestrian and cycle links throughout the site and through to Apedale Country Park.

• Retain and enhance Furnace Pool for the local angling community. Assist in the wider regeneration of the housing market and economy of North Staffordshire to create a better future.

• Create up to 300 new mixed tenure homes for the area, providing more choice for the local community whilst helping to attract new residents and investment into the area, supporting existing households and school population numbers.

• Help create employment opportunities and stimulate trade for existing shops and services locally.

• Provide a significantly enhanced high quality landscaped environment with ecology areas.

• Address many of the current issues associated with the site including drainage, methane emissions, visual impact and safety whilst improving and reclaiming the environmental aspects of the area for the benefit of the local community.
