Silverdale goes live

04/04/05

Following on from the local exhibitions of the latest masterplan for the Silverdale Colliery site the project team has launched a new website www.silverdalenewvision.info. The site provides up to the minute information on the latest news, changes to the masterplan, public exhibitions and opportunities for the local community to become more involved in shaping the plans for the area.

The plan to create a dedicated website was supported by the community during the most recent consultation period, which stimulated a great deal of constructive feedback and saw a number of people expressing their wish to see further information available online.

Approximately 900 people attended the consultation event in all. Many people gave their comments and views on the proposed way forward, which the project team will now take into consideration as the scheme develops. Now that the web site is in place, local people will have yet another way to keep in touch and stay informed about the latest progress.

David Charmbury, English Partnerships Regeneration Manager explains, "The creation of the Silverdale New Vision website is a great demonstration of community consultation in action and proof that the project team recognises the importance and value of the local community’s comments and involvement. We hope that people will use the website to keep up to date with the latest information as well as to send feedback direct to the team."

The Silverdale Information Centre in the local shopping parade has free web access for local residents so everyone has the opportunity of viewing the site and finding out the latest on plans for the former colliery site.

The plans for the site are being spearheaded by English Partnerships, the national regeneration agency, in partnership with Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council.
